About South Plains Toastmasters Club

Welcome from the President

Val Cochran, President

As current President, I pass on a warm welcome to those of you reading today.

Being a member for over 5 years in this club of friends has been the highlight of my week.
As many Thursdays out of the year that I can,  I zip out of my office and make it to Lubbock
National Bank downtown branch to meet with fellow TM's and guests.

Guests are not typically guests for long - they become members.  Why you ask?
That's easy - we are one of the warmest groups in town.  We're all eager to learn
and improve our speaking skills on many levels in a fun - safe - non judgmental atmosphere.

Most employers will pay your dues because it is educational and even though I pay my own,
It's because I want to further develop professionally  and the friendships and random information you
pick up through speeches is PRICELESS!

Our typical meetings are themed,  we have a prayer and pledge, word of the day, humor, a couple of
speeches and table topics (Q & A's on your toes, and the fun part is, you can make up your answers or
pick a different Q) - then we give reports on how everyone did.  Members are assigned rolls in advance
and we fill rolls on the spot for no shows. Guests decide how much they want to participate.

Come join us any Thursday at noon at LNB in the board room.  Bring something to eat or drink or
just hang out and watch the room come to life with new friends from all walks of life, ages and stages.

Regards,

Val
